Project description
26,000 square metres of space, eleven roof terraces, state-of-the-art technological equipment, contemporary architecture and high sustainability standards – the headquarters of Microsoft Germany offers optimal conditions for modern working. Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO), the IT group has developed a space and equipment concept known as “Smart Workspace”, which breaks up the rigid, uniform workplace structure and focuses on new, open office structures. Spread over seven floors, the building has open-plan offices, retreat areas, informal lounges, spacious meeting rooms, cafés and sports facilities.
The external appearance is characterised by the bright white façade made of the high-tech material Corian. Heated and chilled ceilings, mechanical ventilation, solar shading with louvres… – with energy-efficient technology certified according to the LEED Gold seal of approval, the building takes environmental protection into account. What’s more, at least 75 per cent of the construction site waste was recycled during the building process. MARKGRAF’s services ranged from the excavation of the building pit to the shell construction, the finishing work, the façade and the technical building equipment.
