Project description
Flanked by listed old buildings, the new Munich Volkstheater on the former cattle yard site picks up on the brick architecture of the surrounding area. The building comprises a main and side stage, foyer with bar, rehearsal rooms, workshops, artists’ dressing rooms, flats, offices, storage and a day care centre. It is being built by the Swabian construction company Georg Reisch on a turnkey basis on almost 18,000 square metres and rises over staggered eaves heights along Tumblingerstrasse. The 27 metre high stage tower is set back so as not to dominate the street scene too much. Visitors enter the entrance courtyard through a striking archway, which also houses the beer garden of the adjoining restaurant. In the light-flooded foyer, a curved staircase leads to the large theatre hall with a total of 600 seats.
Success story: Top start for the mydocma construction software
