Project description
MesseCity Köln GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between STRABAG Real Estate and ECE Projektmanagement, is developing a versatile urban quarter with a total of six buildings on a 5.7-hectare site in a prominent location in Cologne. Between the South Entrance of Koelnmesse and Deutz railway station, 7- to 16-storey buildings will be erected, housing offices, hotels, restaurants, shops and a cinema. The Messebalkon, centrally positioned on the site, connects the building plots to the east and west of it and forms a lively neighbourhood centre as a public square. The interplay of different scales, building typologies and green spaces will create a district with an urban silhouette, high amenity value and excellent transport links.
The conclusion of the first rental agreement in May 2016 was the starting signal for the realisation phase. Once the first buildings have been completed, the holistic neighbourhood management system developed during the project planning phase will also come into play. Züblin will coordinate and manage cross-property and cross-owner service areas, such as outdoor facilities or central technical installations, in order to maintain the attractiveness of the location and the value of the new exhibition centre over its entire operating life.
