digitalBAU 2026 – A dialogue on the digitalisation of the construction industry

Last week was dominated by the digitalBAU trade fair in Cologne. The in-depth discussions we had with customers, prospective clients and partners have once again confirmed that our key digital themes strike a chord with the construction industry and address its core challenges head-on.

Focus on AI

Artificial intelligence was one of the key topics at digitalBAU. Numerous constructive discussions focused on how it can be integrated into existing processes in a meaningful way that delivers real added value – for example, for generating defect reports from images, cross-module searches on the mydocma platform, or via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) as an integration standard and ‘Bring Your Own Model’ for the flexible integration of proprietary AI models.

A platform rather than isolated solutions

Our platform approach was very well received as a comprehensive solution to the problem of software silos and data silos. The concept meets the needs of many companies for redundancy-free and consistent workflows, as all stakeholders have access to software modules, project resources and the same data set, all consolidated and integrated in one place.

Data management as the foundation of efficient processes

A centralised data repository, integrated software and end-to-end workflows are essential for working efficiently in the construction sector. As a result, there is significant demand for common and shared data environments. With our new project room module and our interface tool, we provide the flexibility required to deploy these solutions in line with specific needs.

Cooperation through integration

Partnership in construction means working together to deliver projects successfully, transparently and efficiently. The key to this is integration: genuine collaboration arises when information and processes mesh seamlessly. We were able to demonstrate impressively how this works in practice at our joint stand with Asta Development GmbH – through the seamless integration of our construction documentation system, mydocma RP, with the Asta Powerproject scheduling software.

Digital tools for day-to-day project work

In addition to construction-specific applications, our modules for regular meeting minutes, forms and checklists, as well as the project workspace, also attracted a great deal of interest, as they significantly simplify recurring tasks in day-to-day operations and considerably ease the workload on teams.

BIM: a perennial favourite

Model-based working has been one of the industry’s key topics for years, and we consistently take this into account: in addition to the 3D localisation of defects, images and fire safety measures, this is now also a key feature of our construction documentation system, mydocma RP, where processes and activities are documented and linked in a traceable manner within the context of the model and schedule.

Heading into the future with the wind in our sails

We’ve taken a lot of positive energy away from this year’s digitalBAU and look forward to working together to further digitise the construction industry in a way that is integrated, practical and forward-looking.

Many thanks to all our visitors for the interesting and inspiring conversations!
